Young People

Young people can at times feel overwhelmed by life and struggle with their thoughts and feelings. Having the opportunity to talk with a counsellor in a safe and confidential environment can enable coping strategies to be developed, helping the young person feel more confident and resilient.

Signs that a young person may benefit from counselling include:

  • Friendship issues
  • Anger issues
  • Self harming
  • Changes in eating patterns
  • Becoming withdrawn
  • Difficulties sleeping
  • Difficulties adapting to changes within the home, such as moving house, changing school, new siblings, new step parents.
  • Exam pressures
  • Anxiety and worry
  • Depression
  • Confidence issues
  • Unhelpful phobias
  • Unhelpful habits

How I can help

I have many years’ experience working with young people aged 11 to 21 years, and understands that sometimes their pressures can feel overwhelming. They may experience difficulties at home, school, college and university. They may have self-esteem issues, friendship concerns, peer pressures, exam worries, been excluded from school, or have low aspirations.

Counselling can help with a range of issues and enable young people to talk freely about worries and concerns that they are reluctant to talk through with family and friends.
